psychotherapy and nutrition

Today it is a well-known fact that weight excess, obesity, and weight related issues as well as eating disorders are very common. They represent or are linked to some of the major health issues of our societies all around the world. Many people, whether they are at an average weight or not, experience problems such as food anxiety, negative body image, dysfunctional eating behavior or eating disorders. Related to those are many other mental and physical issues: depression, anxiety disorders, diabetes mellitus, cardiac diseases etc. Yet despite all our efforts, we still have not found a viable and sustainable solution for it. Often times we are told to diet and “just lose weight”, but it is not as simple as that. For many years, this issue has been a part of my life - both on a personal and professional level – and I have been trying to find a constructive way of dealing with it ever since. Nonetheless, having been trained in both psychotherapy and nutrition, and after having gained more than ten years of experience working with overweight patients and those suffering from eating disorders, it seems to me that a complete and thorough understanding of both the psychological and nutritional/behavioral factors is necessary to tackle the issues most effectively. Body and mind cannot be separated, yet in many interventions they are treated as two independent entities by either focusing too much on the dietary side or on the psychological side. My wish is to share with you my knowledge and experience and consider both physiological and psychological aspects, with the objective to provide you with the necessary information, understanding and competences in order for you to be able to make the best choices and help you find a way out of your suffering. So, if you would like to learn more about how to deal with your food related issues and become more conscious of the mind, and establish a normal relationship with food again, this program might be of interest for you.
